JBA STALWART BACK IN CHAIR

Successful Joondalup real estate principal and local entrepreneur Russell Poliwka has been elected as President of the Joondalup Business Association for 2009.

Russell renominated for the committee along with nine of the 2008 members and was elected unopposed to the position.

Russell was the first President of the JBA which was founded in the early nineties and has served several terms in the position in that time. Russell is a life member of the organisation and was the inaugural recipient of the Business Leader Award in the 2007 ECU North West Metro Small Business Awards.

“I am looking forward with vigour to the task of building on the achievements of past fourteen years to ensure the JBA continues to go from strength to strength,” Mr Poliwka said.

“We will also continue to develop our partnerships with local, State & Federal Government to best represent our member’s interests and to ensure the prosperity of the region.

“I would like thank Mervyn Rothstein of M Rothstein & Co who stepped down from the committee this year along with Norman Baker of West Coast TAFE. Mervyn served as our Honorary secretary and was also a founding member, along with myself and a handful of new business owners, who met in the then Bedshed Joondalup showroom over a decade ago,” he said.

“I also wish to thank outgoing President Russell Crook for his contribution and welcome new committee member Lynn Allen, Sales Manager for Community Newspaper Group. Lynn joins John Willett, Andrew Slomp, David Curry, Ray Foster, Brent Wilson, Russell Crook, Lorna Dade and Pauline Egerton-Warburton."
