GREEN AND RED FOR JBA AGM

A feature of the agenda of the Annual General Meeting of the Joondalup Business Association, conducted on 27 October at the Joondalup Reception Centre, was a presentation entitled “Making Sense of the Green Tidal Wave” by Yanchep Beach Joint Venture economic development adviser Dr Ian Martinus.

 

The presentation outlined the importance of green industries comparing the United States experience with what might be achieved in Western Australia with wind and wave power as the major focal points because of our coastal location.

 

Dr Martinus has worked on a number of international development projects for AusAID, USAID and the World Bank in South Africa, Iraq and recently has returned from a secondment in Afghanistan. He also entertained guests at the breakfast with an account of his experiences there.

 

Another feature of the event was the presentation of a Certificate of Appreciation to President Russell Poliwka by Captain Cymon Brooks of The Salvation Army recognising the financial support provided by JBA members through the annual auction dinner sponsored by Community Newspaper Group.
