JBA REFRESHES GOALS
The Joondalup Business Association has reviewed its operation and set new goals for what will be its tenth anniversary as the JBA in 2010.
JBA president Russell Poliwka said that the organisation had devolved from the Wanneroo Chamber of Commerce and has been in operation as a small business representative body under various names since the early nineties including the Wanneroo Economic Development Association, Regional Economic Development Group & the North West Metro Business Association and was changed to the JBA to reflect the new Joondalup City status in 2000.
“We consider it important to regularly review the policies and processes of the association to ensure that the expectations of members are more than adequately met and while we are confident this is the case we are always aware that things could be done differently or even better,” Mr Poliwka said.
“To determine those factors we recently conducted a survey, so we could hear the voice of members, and held a Strategic Planning session at Edith Cowan University that involved the JBA Committee and Joondalup stakeholder representatives including the WA Police Service, West Coast Institute of Training and Joondalup Resort,” he said.
“The outcomes of both of those processes were very encouraging and rewarding with 97% of survey respondents strongly agreeing or agreeing that we are addressing the needs and expectations of our members as a small business representative body,” Mr Poliwka said.
“None the less we will strive to improve on that good record and following the deliberations from the strategic planning session we have some great innovations to implement over the next three years including our new vision statement - “TO REPRESENT, INFORM AND ASSIST SMALL TO MEDIUM BUSINESS TO GROW AND PROSPER , which we feel encapsulates what the JBA is all about,” Mr Poliwka said.
